David is a Reader in Information Studies within the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Glasgow.  David’s research interests encompass information law and ethics, including intellectual freedom, and freedom of expression, freedom of access to information, digital citizenship, privacy, and the philosophy of information.  He has also extensively researched around public library policy and development in the UK.  David is serving as President of CILIP Scotland in 2025.  David also served as Vice Chair of the Review Panel for the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement for Librarianship, Information, Knowledge, Records and Archives Management during 2024-25.
